Obama, Oprah... Who are these 'Media Black Leaders' and why do white people like them so much?
White people like black leaders who do not talk about race, about economic inequality, who are non-threatening. Obama soothed our worries about racism when he pretended to speak for the black community and said that Jenna 6 and Katrina were not about race. These media black leaders stroke the white ego, deny us of guilt. By association, we feel we have overcome our own racism. Unlike MLK jr, we like our black leaders to deny their blackness. To assert that they speak for all African Americans and racism is behind us.
Keep in mind, if he gets the nomination, I will vote for him in the General, but we are still in the primary and I think we have a chance to elect someone who is truly progressive.
